They Call It Mellow Yellow

OK, so I’m actually making some progress on my home office / {someday} craft room!  I bought some paint today from Lowe’s and started the makeover. Here’s a shot of the before when it was a playroom…

We had the futon couch for my sister to crash on when she visited from Chicago, plus a full size dresser for extra clothing storage. The bottom half of the walls were a faux bead board wallpaper which was very annoying to remove! Thanks to a reader for the suggestion of using liquid fabric softener and water mixed in a spray bottle to remove! Worked perfectly!!

One of my main inspirations for my new craft room/office was this yellow chevron pillow from Linen and Oak’s Etsy shop. LOVE Laura and her fabulous pillows! Not quite sure about the rest of the colors quite yet…

I purchased some Olympic interior latex paint in an eggshell finish.

The color is called Evening Glow.  I tried to go a couple shades lighter than the chevron pillows, but once it was on the wall it looked a little more vivid than expected. Wanna see a little preview of my new walls?

Not quite sure if this is “mellow yellow”, but it’s definitely a punch of color to brighten up the space! I think the color will look great against my dark furniture, white accent decor, some colorful artwork on the walls, and a new chandelier (hopefully!).

Oh, and the BEST PART? I’m actually going to use a Cutting Edge Stencil to complete my desired look! I’m super excited to do another one in my home. Remember the damask version I used in my daughter’s room? Yep, I’m totally stoked!

Stay tuned to see which stencil I’m going to use and the craft room makeover reveal! Should be coming Monday, November 7th. And I might just have a special giveaway to go along with it!! You’ll just have to wait and see!
