5 Quick & Crafty {HAIR PIN} Ideas for Kids

I purchased some pretty hair pins from Pick Your Plum a couple of weeks ago and thought I’d share some quick and easy ideas using some craft supplies you might have around the house!

So I found some colorful ribbon from the $1 bins at Target, little sequined flowers, butterfly buttons, felt flowers and some rosettes I made awhile back for my Lamp Shade Makeover. The only other supply I needed was my hot glue gun!

First up is the Felt Flower Hair Pins!

Next we have the Butterfly Button Hair Pins!

I snipped off the back of the button with a pair of scissors so it would be easier to glue.

Here’s the Fabric Rosette Hair Pin!

I used the ribbon from Target to make some Mini Bow Hair Pins.

And of course you gotta have some bling!
Here’s the Sequined Flower Hair Pins.

Really super quick & easy project!
Plus LOVE that I used items I already had in my craft room.

  1. Thanks for posting the “how to” instructions for this hair pin project. I’ve often wondered about the cutting part of the “shank” off the buttons, but I’ve always envisioned them breaking into pieces if I try it. I’ll have to get some supplies and give this a try!

I have a little 4 yr. old granddaughter that I like to make hair “goodies” for. She would love something similar to these, since she’s the real “girlie” type of girl ~ and very spoiled too! Her birthday just passed, so maybe for Christmas! Thanks again! :)

  2. How cute/wish my Walmart had that ribbon-You can do some amazing things from their supplies

  3. Hi, Erin
I found your lovely blog and just enjoyed looking around. I love these lovely pins you made your daughter, I will have to try this on my little girl. I am a new follower. I would love for you to stop by http://www.homesweetbutterfly.com. Have a great weekend.

  4. Cute! I made some months ago, but never posted them. To fancy them up a bit more, I used nail polish and painted the bobby pin, only the side that shows. I slide the bobby pins onto a piece of cardboard to paint them, that way they stayed put. It made them look more “professionl”. Know what I mean? Now I’m in the mood to make some more. =)
