Random Ramblings – What You Shouldn’t Ask a 6 Year Old

So I’ve been a little disconnected recently. I used to love sharing random ramblings and stories about my daughter and family… up until the weirdo stole my kid’s photo and I vowed to never put photos of her on this blog ever again.

But then I feel like I’m only sharing projects and not anything behind the scenes. So here we go. Some random ramblings. Not an every week kinda thing… just whenever I feel like sharing something funny, sweet or just plain random stuff.

Case in point…

never ask a kid

A couple days ago my daughter Ellie had spirit week at school. On Tuesday was “career day”… dress like what you want to be when you grow up. So the Sunday prior I asked her what she wanted to be. Ya know… to give me enough time to prepare something with more than 24 hours notice.

Her response:

i dont know

Welp, no. Not exactly.
I said I’ll give her another night to think about it.

Monday evening rolls around. The night before career day. At the dinner table I ask:

grow up

And here’s her response…

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about it. And I actually have an idea.
What if we get a plain white t-shirt.
And then get some black paint.

Ok… I like where this is going…
sounds crafty.

Well on the white t-shirt we can write a
and under it say
{and she kinda yells this part}

So I dressed her in an apron and sent her off as a baker.
And now she wants to be a baker.

Lesson learned.
I should’ve dressed her up as Oprah.

Haha! Well this morning she told me she wants to be a dancing artist. Not just a dancer, not just an artist. But someone who paints while they dance. I’ll let you know if I find that job description anywhere so we can all apply for the job! Sounds like fun to me ;)

When asked this question at his Pre-K graduation, in front of a large group of people, my grandson gave it some thought and then answered “Old!”. I thought it was a pretty good answer :)
