Aaah, another room in the new place to cross off my to-do list. I showed you guys last week my mood board for the Guest Bedroom, but today I’m giving you the full makeover. Let’s take a tour… I wanted the feel for this room to be a little more masculine (navy with pops of orange), but still a little feminine in the textiles and accessories.
For now you can drool over these navy accent pillows I found at Pier 1 and the sweet orange throw from Target. I also made a window cornice kinda like the ones in my kitchen with navy blue curtain panels from Walmart. I used the same fabric on the cornice as the fireplace mantel headboard in the bedroom. The chairs? Well I cheaped out here. While I would have loved some fabulous wingback wicker chairs, I just couldn’t afford it… especially for a guest bedroom. So I purchased these two chairs from Lowe’s for $60 each. The orange pillows are from HomeGoods on clearance and the little side table I purchased last year from Red Posie, a local antique store in town. And say hello to my fabulous new blue alarm clock. The other side of the room features an old dresser that belonged to my husband as a child. I just couldn’t bring myself to paint this so here it is in all of its chipped glory. Above the dresser sits 4 navy blue and white sketch airplane posters. I couldn’t find something I wanted so I created these myself, benefits of being a graphic designer by trade. I printed them at Walgreens and purchased some white frames from Michael’s. Next to the bed sits a little nightstand. It’s actually a telephone table I refurbished in our old house. It was sitting in the garage collecting dust so I decided to update it by painting the drawers a dark blue.
Well that’s about it for the tour. Tomorrow I’ll be giving some more details about the upholstered fireplace mantel headboard. Oh, and then Wednesday I’ll be sharing the sketch airplane printables. Woot!
