Last week I introduced you guys to my latest craft/DIY project in collaboration with BEHR®: a mystery box filled with a bunch of random goodies for their #BEHRbox get-ready-for-the-holidays challenge.
I had to choose 3 items from the #BEHRbox for my project. The lucky winners were 1 crate, a Wooster® brush, and the color Laid Back Gray from the 2017 BEHR® Color Currents palette. In addition to those items, I also picked up 4 swivel casters ($2.97 each), 8 Simpson Tie brackets ($0.58 each), and a couple mums ($9 each) from The Home Depot to complete my project.
And here’s what I turned my crate into…
And it took me less than 30 minutes to complete!
Here are the details of how I transformed the simple DIY project…
First I painted the entire crate in Laid Back Gray from the 2017 BEHR® Color Currents palette. Love that it only took 1 coat of paint to fully cover the wood (even the dark knots).
Next I added the corner brackets using 1/2 inch screws. This just added a cute detail feature to the planter.
Then it was time to add the swivel casters. I used the same screws from the corner brackets to attach the wheels. Easy peasy.
And so far the crate looks like this…
But I wanted to kick it up a notch and make this planter decorative for every season so I added a little $2 chalkboard to the front.
Love that I can change out the wording & flowers for every season!
And here’s how it looks on my front porch for Fall…
Love that I squeezed in another little craft project before the holiday season.
You know Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before you know it!
