Make sure you follow me on Instagram and Pinterest for a sneak peek into my recent projects!
It’s been awhile since I’ve taken you on a tour of my kitchen. After making a couple little changes over the past months I thought it was time to give you guys a bit of an update. So here we go…
The biggest update is our new white subway tile backsplash, but more on that one tomorrow. For now just enjoy some new photos of my happy place…
I’m still deeply obsessed with my foyer lanterns turned kitchen pendants and my DIY kitchen window cornices. That blue color continues throughout the main floor, like my family room and sun room.
And I have to mention the faucet again. It’s the Moen MotionSense and it’s life changing (ok not really, but close). They don’t pay me to say how awesome this faucet is; I just like to tell everyone I know.
And yes, that is a bowl of Starbursts on my countertop. Don’t judge.
The weird empty wall on the right where the cabinets end is now filled with my kitchen shelving unit. While I’m still hoping someday to update to a wine fridge and built-ins, it’s pretty perfect for now.
A couple things we saved on in our dream kitchen…
The kitchen floors? VINYL.
The countertops? LAMINATE.
The backsplash? DIY for under $250!
You can also spy my kitchen command center on the other side of the kitchen.
Under $75 to create that.
Pretty much the most useful project ever.
I still have some minor updates to make:
• Built in platter rack next to fridge
• Trim out kitchen island
• Build out on top of cabinets
• Make final decision on kitchen stools
• Wine fridge built ins
But for now, this place is perfect to me.
And don’t forget tomorrow I’ll be sharing some more details on our new kitchen subway tile backsplash. Stay tuned!

Wonderful Kitchen!!! Though I could NEVER pull off keeping white looking clean! But I have a question. What gas stove do you have? Looking to get one at some point as I do alot of canning. I currently have a smoothtop stove and it makes things a little difficult.
howtonestforless says
LOVE my gas stove!! It’s GE. Here’s a link:

Laura Bradham Frisch says
Thanks so much. THat is the brand that I have been leaning towards anyone. I already have a GE microwave/.convection that I love.

I’m remodeling my kitchen also and was looking at this stove. How easy is it to keep the griddle/grill clean? Also the finish on the grills over the burners seems rough. How is there finish holding up?
howtonestforless says
The finish is holding up quite well, but when it gets dusty it’s hard to wipe clean. I just soak them in soap water every other week to get the gunk off. Other than that I love it!

Erin,
Beautiful!! Beautuful! Your kitchen shelving unit, what a great idea until you get your wine fridge and built- ins!!
And who eats the starbursts??
Annie
howtonestforless says
Thanks Annie! I have to say I love the shelving unit for now! And the starbursts? No, not me!! 😉
Linda K says
Love it. Amazed at your almost empty counter tops. I so need to declutter mine and keep them looking like this. Laminate looks very nice.
howtonestforless says
Thanks Linda! The shelving unit really helped declutter my countertops.

Beautiful kitchen!!!!!!!
howtonestforless says
Thanks Natalie!

Beautiful kitchen! What brand and color are your counter tops?
howtonestforless says
Thank you! They’re Formica. The color is Belmonte Granite.
rk says
Beautiful kitchen! You have a lot of great projects/tips etc. on your site. Everything here is upscale and has classy touches throughout. I realize that “budget” is a relative term 🙂
howtonestforless says
Thanks! And yes it is I guess! But laminate countertops, vinyl flooring, DIY backsplash, $75 command center… Just trying to say you don’t have to spend a lot of money for the upscale look! 😉

Love this kitchen! Where did you get the light fixtures? LOVE them!
howtonestforless says

I have been wanting to paint my kitchen cabinets white to brighten up a dark north-facing kitchen. After seeing yours, I am ready to start. Love the counter tops – really thought they were granite! It’s the look I want for my kitchen counter tops but was crushed by the cost of the real deal. I do believe I’ll be looking into formica – love the look!
howtonestforless says
Thanks Linda! It’s amazing the colors and patterns they offer in Formica now. Good luck with your kitchen!
Alisa says
What paint/colors were used on the cabinets and walls?
howtonestforless says
The cabinets are just stock white. The walls are Inspiring Awe from Clark+Kensington at Ace Hardware.
Monique says
Do you have the link for the vinyl floors? thanks!!!

Love your entire kitchen! Can you share the manufacturer and line of the cabinets? They’re exactly what I’m looking for, and since you were able to grab glass doors for only $50 each in the butlers pantry, I think they’re perfect. Thanks!
howtonestforless says
They are Aristokraft Thermofoil Augusta cabinets. We LOVE them since they are so easy to keep clean and do not chip. I would highly recommend them!
kristin says
I realize this is an older post, but I just found you on pinterest and wanted to say I love your kitchen! Would you be able to tell me the dimensions of your kitchen?
howtonestforless says
Thank you so much! Our kitchen is about 12x15ft.
Kristin says
Sorry, which wall has the 15′ dimension
howtonestforless says
The side with the stove & refrigerator.

Love your kitchen. Just a suggestion, I love wine. I primarily drink red. My husband so nicely bought me a counter height wine fridge that held 50 bottles. It was truly a waste of money. Unless you are a serious collector/drinker of wine get a regular beverage fridge instead. We sold our wine fridge and went that way and I am so much happier! Turns out we drink more water, juice, beer, soda for parties than wine. I put the kid drinks in it and it keeps them from wearing out my main fridge. I added Pottery Barn wine shelves for displaying my wine. And I can still keep a few bottles of white in the beverage fridge ready for a summer night on the deck. Love your posts!
howtonestforless says
Thanks so much Jennifer! And you are so right… we drink way more beer, water, juice, etc. Thanks for the input. I do appreciate it!
Lori says
I LOVE this kitchen moving into house with the exact lay out! Hope you don’t mind me being a copy cat. LOL! Thank you so much for sharing!
howtonestforless says
Haha! Go ahead. Copy away 😉

2 questions for ya. I’m thinking about using the Belmonte granite by Formica in my new home. Does this come off a tad darker in real life than the photo shows? I have taken pics of tons of samples and my camera always makes them come across lighter, so I’m hoping that’s the case here as well as I’d prefer it to be a bit darker. Do you think it would go well with espresso cabinets?
howtonestforless says
It really depends on the lighting in your kitchen. Belmonte Granite changes from light to dark depending on the time of day. My sister has dark espresso cabinets and she has the exact same countertops. Looks great in her kitchen! I would go for it. It is by far my favorite Formica choice!
Brooke says
Thank you so much for the advice!! I always see this counter in my image searches with white cabinets so i worry about choosing the Espresso cabinets.
Another option for me is the Crema Mascarello by Formica, however this is a 400 dollar upgrade. Decisions Decisions… lol
Brooke Drakesmith says
Does this counter top pull pinks or purples? My husband thinks he sees these colors when he looks at the 10×10 swatch I have of the Belmonte Granite.
howtonestforless says
Not at all. It pulls more tans than gray (on the yellow side more than blue/purple/red). I picked the same countertops for our new kitchen:

Touring all your homes. Love the white kitchens and subway tile. The vinyl flooring looks like ceramic tile.
howtonestforless says
Thank you Betty! This was my favorite flooring of all our home. SO EASY to clean!
Lori says
I love, love your kitchen! I am doing laminate tops also. May I ask what color is the paint?
howtonestforless says
The walls are Inspiring Awe from Clark+Kensington at Ace Hardware!
Valerie says
Hi! I was wondering if it’s high pressure laminate, like those ones : http://www.formica.com/en/ca/products/formica-laminate-home#swatchesTab
I was thinking going with that kind of surfacing. Do you like it?
howtonestforless says
I love it!
Wella says
Hello! Love your kitchen! We have white cabinets as well but want to repaint and re-tile backsplash. The backsplash you used is the exact one were considering. Did you paint your cabinets? If you do remember the exact color? Thanks!😊
