This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Walmart Foundation for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Have you guys heard of the Fighting Hunger Together initiative? This campaign is near and dear to my heart so I wanted to help spread the word.
More than 50 million Americans don’t know where their next meal will come from. A lot of this can be attributed to the unemployment rate in this country.
To help communities across America, Walmart is working with Feeding American and four of the most recognizable food brands: ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft and Kellogg’s (yep, I know your pantry and fridge are stocked with these food brands!).
FIGHTING HUNGER TOGETHER is from Monday, April 9th through April 30th. You can join the fight against hunger either in-store or through Facebook.
So, you wanna help? IT’S EASY!
1. Vote to fight spring hunger with Walmart. Log onto Facebook between April 9-30. You can vote among 200 communities with the highest unemployment rates (as determined by the Department of Labor Report found here). I will be voting for St. Louis, Missouri: my hometown! Yep, I personally know how hard it is to find new work in St. Louis (my husband and I both lost our jobs due to the recession in December of 2008).
2. Go in-store between April 9-30 and participate in Fighting Hunger Together. How? By purchasing select products from ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft and Kellogg’s, you can donate meals to Feeding America or Action for Healthy Kids (a non-profit fighting childhood hunger). Make sure you check out in-store signs and packaging for all the details!
3. SPREAD THE WORD! The Fighting Hunger Together initiative is expected to generate 43 MILLION MEALS for families in need across America.
Walmart will donate a total of $2 million to the 21 communities receiving the most support: $1 million to the winner and $50,000 each to the 20 runners-up. The community winners will be announced May 1st.
Thanks for listening and I hope you guys participate!
