I’m in the process of a hallway renovation. Yep, it’s about time I spruced up this space (we’ve only lived here for 7 years, but better late than never, right?).
Well I’m happy to say that the first projects on my list are now complete. The mirror that my cousin gave us for a wedding present is hung and I painted some old candle sconces to hang on either side.
The candlestick sconces I scored from Goodwill for $2 total. While I’m kinda in love with anything gold or brass right now, they just didn’t seem to go with the mirror so I thought a quick coat of paint could make them work in this space.
I opted for a coat of Provence in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I kinda just slapped it on there and didn’t care if I missed a couple of spots since I wanted more of a patina look. Once the Provence color dried I added a coat of watered down Pure White to add some depth.
I scuffed up the edges a bit and hung them on either side of the mirror.
Here’s some detail shots…
I have to say I’m quite happy I ended up adding the white wash on top of the blue. Really makes the color variations pop.
So what’s next on my to do list?
Hang mirror Paint candle sconces
- Install wainscoting
- Hang family photos across from mirror
- Change out light fixture
Let’s just hope I can find some time this weekend to start on the wall treatments. Since we live in a one story ranch, the hallway is kind of a focal point leading from the great room into the bedrooms. I’m in desperate need of anything to liven up this space!
