About two weeks ago my family and I took a little day trip down to Historic St. Charles just outside of St. Louis. It’s a beautiful brick paved street lined with one-of-a-kind shops, mostly filled with antiques, collectibles, framed art and restaurants.
And I know I told you guys I would take you on some little shopping outings with me, so here’s my latest from Red Posie.
There were plenty of cool Fall treasures in the store, and lots of Christmas goodies making their debut appearance.
And of course I have to gush about THE PAINTS. Seriously.
They stock so many different types of paints and I love it. One stop shopping. Maison Blanche, Real Milk Paint, General Finishes Milk Paint… lots of options.
But the main reason I obsess over this store?
Painted pieces like this…
I almost bought this but couldn’t think of a good place to put it in our home. The detail on it was simply exquisite, but my main rule is always have a plan for what you need to buy when you go antiquing or thrift store shopping (check out my tips for how to thrift like a pro).
But when we were at Red Posie a couple weeks ago we were on a mission. I’ve been saving up some money to buy a new storage piece for our dining room. I had been looking at hutches and decided I really didn’t need a massive piece since I have tons of cabinet storage space in our kitchen. I just wanted something convenient for our dining room, something to hold the serving ware and fancy flatware.
And then I found this.
For under $300.
Now I still have a lot to do in this room before I give you the final reveal. I’m trying to think of a color to paint the walls in there. My original color was Bottlenose Dolphin, a blue gray color from Valspar, but I ended up doing that in our sun room. Now I feel like I need to start adding another color to the walls. Maybe a green?
Remember I don’t have any windows in our dining room (major design flaw!) and a dark walnut farmhouse table. Besides that the room is pretty bare. Lots of possibilities… although it needs to flow with the rest of the house.
So, any paint color suggestions?
And if you’re in the St. Louis area, make sure you stop by Red Posie in Old St. Charles.

Wow! What a great barter indeed, that is awesome. I took a painting class that Laurie taught at Red Posie and she is so nice. And yes, the store is wonderful. 🙂

I like that their store is a one-stop-shop for all of my painting supplies too!
