Does anyone else have a teensy tiny crush on washi tape? At first I was a little timid about this “fad”, but now I’m kinda loving all the possibilities of this little decorative tape.

washi tape desk suppliesSo what’s my latest project? Washi tape covered desk supplies that I picked up from Target a couple months ago. I simply loved the chevron on the inside when I spotted these and knew I could spruce up the plain old outside.

washi tape your desk suppliesWell after this stuff sitting around my house for the past couple months, my daughter asked if she could have them for the desk in her bedroom to store all her markers and papers. So to breathe some life into these brown paper mache desk supplies I dug out the washi tape I had purchased on clearance from Michael’s. And…

5 MINUTE PROJECT. NO JOKE.

desk supplies with washi tapeI just simply rotated the colors of the washi tape as I went around the desk supplies. To get an even edge, I cut the ends with a pair of scissors. Also, to keep the tape down and give it some long term shelf life, I gave the entire pen holder and letter holder a quick coat of matte Mod Podge.

And now we have the perfect place to store my budding artist’s supplies to go with the desk and chair I painted for her last year. Yep, she has quite the set up for a 5 year old.

I have not jumped on the fad bc I was basically like “Dude, it’s just tape”. Now I find myself thinking “hmmmm….. if I had some Washi Tape I could….”. Where in Michael’s would I find it? May just have to check it out.

Yeah, I avoided it for a while, too, and I found some on clearance (also at Michael’s) not that long ago. I used it on a project last week and I’m officially hooked. I had to buy some other supplies earlier this week and I noticed that the seller also had washi tape…so I bought some…it’s definitely addictive!
