So last week I showed you my mother’s kitchen cabinet makeover that I completed while my parents were on vacation. Well, that wasn’t the only project I tackled while they were having some fun in the sun… here’s their Guest Bathroom Makeover.
My parents’ guest bathroom was quite bare. Just some Paper Illusions wallpaper and nothing else. Time to refresh, right? My mom gave me a $200 budget and I got to work.
The hard part of designing around this room was the gold plumbing fixtures: the faucet, shower surround, towel hangers, toilet paper holder, etc.
But adding some pops of color sure did help transform this little space from plain and boring to fun and fresh!
The first thing I found were some flowered towels on clearance from HomeGoods with gold, pink, and greenish blue hues. They definitely set the tone for the rest of the bathroom design.
I hung one on the shower door and one on the towel rack behind the door, then tied each one back with large gold tassels.
I also picked up a bright pink flower arrangement and bathroom accessories from HomeGoods including a soap dispenser and a little jar for extra storage.
Sitting on the sink’s edge are some matching washcloths and some wrapped soaps for any incoming guests. My parents travel often so they always grab the goodies from their hotel rooms and stash them in the guest bathroom!
And why not get organized with all of those goodies? See that little decorative box on top of the commode… yep, it’s filled with travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste and more.
Everything stashed away perfectly, neat and out of sight!
Another way I organized her guest bathroom was using some Command Brand items throughout my design, including towel hangers, a fog-resistant mirror for shaving, and a large corner shower caddy.
Here’s a peek from the other side of the bathroom. Not the biggest bathroom in the world, but plenty enough for my siblings and all of our kids when we spend the night.
Over the door I have a Command Brand hook for wet towels and a cute little glass front box that I also purchased from HomeGoods (can you tell I love that place?).
Inside is a little printable I created just for her bathroom. I might just have it on the blog tomorrow so stay tuned…
I also purchased three other greenish blue hand towels, two bath mats and a gold trashcan to finish off the look.
And I have to say… now I’m totally digging the gold accents.
Overall the bathroom cost me less than $200 to freshen up.
Not too shabby, right?

So pretty! Good thing brass is coming back!!! Isn’t it fabulous when you find exactly the piece to pull a room together – a pattern in the right colours does the trick every time. Great job!
