Our Christmas Tree

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Yep, over the long Thanksgiving weekend we put up our Christmas tree. Come take a look…

Since the fireplace mantel makeover that I showed you yesterday has a lot of red in it, I decided to carry the color scheme into our Christmas tree.

This year I was lucky enough to have an eager helper to hang the ornaments.

Some of my favorites:

1. My  trolley car ornament in Chinatown from my summer work trip to San Francisco.
2. And since I like to have an ornament from each vacation, I grabbed one from our weekend getaway to Trout Lodge in Missouri.
3. And we grab an ornament to follow my daughter’s extra-curricular activities. Last year was a ballerina; this year we’ll have to find a soccer player!
4. And of course every year I purchase a little family ornament. It’s a tradition that my mom started when we were young and I love it!

The kiddo was quite proud of her masterpiece… although the tree seemed to be getting bottom heavy quite quickly. Her little arms could only reach so high…

I still need to find a new tree skirt, but I might just wait until the after the holidays to steal something on clearance. I have to say, I was a little nervous about all of the bright red, but I’m kinda diggin’ it now!

So, do you have your Christmas tree up yet?
And is it real or artificial?

Love it! I love that you used ornaments that mean something to you and your family! That’s how we decorate ours and it makes it that much more special!

I can’t help but think the “bottom heavy” look is just so much more adorable than a regular tree.

Haha, I know! Or the top heavy tree so people can keep ornaments away from the young kiddos 😉 Just shows a real family lives there!

Looking festive….Don’t have my tree up yet, I usually put up a fake tree because the real ones die so fast. But, I do get a real wreath so I have that yummy smell.

Ooh, real wreath… never thought of that! Love the idea!!

The tree is beautiful, but of course the prettiest thing in the room is your little sweetie!! Such a doll, and she has the sweetest expression ever.

Your fireplace and tree look so festive and the photo could be a Christmas card! My tree is up and it’s artificial – love that I can move the branches!

    • howtonestforless says

Thank you! Yep, there’s something to be said about bending the branches, hee hee! And a pre-lit tree is kinda nice too 🙂

      VERY nice!
We have a live tree; TOTALLY worth the fuss! It’s not a ‘theme’ tree, but one of ornaments bought, made or received as gifts. There are several that are from my childhood and my late Momma’s, too! (She was born in 1937.)
I started buying and making ornaments when I was in high school and they’re on there, too!
It’ll be about Dec. 15 before we put ours up since it’s a real tree. We leave it up until Ephiphany (12th night). My grandsons are enjoying some of the same ornaments that I and their Momma did when we were their ages (seven and three-and-a-half).

I always say the best part of the holiday season is going through the ornaments when we put up the tree. So many memories!

      LOL, thank you!!

My tree is up and decorated. We have to have a fake tree because we are allergic to it 🙁

    • howtonestforless says

      at

Aww, allergies stink! Sometimes I light a Christmas Tree candle just to get the smell of a real one 😉
