I know most people are still cranking out Christmas and holiday projects, but here I am trying to settle into our new home. So while in the hustle and bustle of unpacking, I decided to snap a few quick pics of our new kitchen and give you the grand tour!

kitchenWhen building my new kitchen I had my eyes set on one thing… white cabinets. Ever since I painted the ones in my old house and painted my mom’s kitchen cabinets white, I knew it was what I wanted in the new place. We ended up with 42 inch wall cabinets and 9ft ceilings. LOTS of storage space! 21 drawers in total alone.

kitchen tourThe white cabinets set the tone for the rest of the kitchen. Light and bright. Stainless steel and satin nickel. And these amazing lantern pendants.

kitchen lantern lightingI second guessed myself about 50 times on these babies, but am oh-so-happy with them in the end. They seriously set the tone for the rest of the room.

kitchen lantern lightsI chose satin nickel cup pulls for the cabinet drawers…

new kitchen tourAnd since I love to cook, a nice double oven with gas stovetop.

white kitchen cabinets house tourThe gas cooktop came with a huge oblong center burner and even a griddle/grill plate for it. I’m excited to get cooking on this thing.

kitchen home tourAnd my absolute favorite part of my new kitchen… MY FAUCET!

motionsense moen kitchen faucetWe picked out the Haysfield MotionSense faucet from Moen and I’m head over heels for it. Honestly… best purchase ever.

If you wave your hand above the top of the faucet spout, it will stay on until you wave your hand over it again to stop the water. OR there’s a little sensor near the handle (see below) that turns on the water as long as you have something in front of it (like to rinse a dish or wash your hands). It’s battery powered and seriously the coolest little gadget we added to our kitchen!

The kitchen floors? VINYL.
The countertops? LAMINATE.

And I couldn’t be happier with our decision.

We’ll get more into that later…

new kitchen tourSo what’s on my to do list for this room?

• Find matching stools
(I’m waiting for Pier 1 to get the middle stools back in stock so I can order 3 more)
• Backsplash
• Paint the walls
• Find window treatments
• Trim the center island
• Build a wine cabinet near entry to hearth room

Love it!! So jealous of the oven/stovetop!!! I still miss my gas stove from my old house after 8 years. My little tip: climb up there ASAP and lay wax paper all along the top of the cabinets. Can’t be seen and saves tons of cleaning time, just roll up throw away and lay down more!

Thank you so much! Love the flooring too. I wanted something dark, but something that would still hide a little bit of the mess 😉

Can you tell me where you got the kitchen lanterns. They are beautiful.

We purchased them from Metro Lighting in St. Louis. Here is the link to the lights on their website: http://search.metrolightingcenters.com/search_individual_result.asp?current=223004&page=1

I love your kitchen! I just painted my cabinets white and have been looking for laminate countertops. I haven’t found just the right color yet, but I love yours. If you wouldn’t mind sharing, what is the name of that color?

    • howtonestforless says

      at

Thanks Bridgette! The color of the laminate is Belmonte Granite. I love it because it goes with both grays and tans, depending on the light and time of day!

What are the details on your gas range? Brand and size? I’m building a new home and will be installing a gas range instead of what I currently have which is 2 full size ovens and large cooktop, all electric. Do you feel that the double ovens are big enough?

    • howtonestforless says

Here is a link to the GE product:

I do love this double oven and gas stove! The top is perfect for everyday use, like cookie sheets, casseroles and roasts. The bottom is a little bigger, great for the Thanksgiving turkey. Great double oven option!

Thanks for sharing the link! All my current appliances are GE and I love them, especially the convection ovens.

Dream Kitchen! I love it all even the mismatched bar stools, I thought you did it on purpose! Cannot wait to see your back splash.
