My parents went on vacation last weekend so while they were living it up in Colorado, I decided to give their guest bedroom a little makeover. Sound familiar? Yeah, same thing happened to their kitchen and guest bathroom a few weeks back.
Well here is what I was dealing with…
Flowered burgundy bedding paired with light green walls? Yep, makeover time.
So here’s the after…
I went with a lot of neutral colors throughout the room. The paint color is my favorite. It definitely changes tones throughout the day. Sometimes beige, sometimes gray… but I love it (Popular Gray from Sherwin Williams).
The bedding I found for $40 from Ross Dress for Less. That included the shams, 3 accent pillows and bedskirt. Complete steal! The flower artwork above the bed is from Target and the accent pillow is from Kirklands.
The furniture in the room had to stay unpainted. All of the pieces belonged to my grandmother and they’re maple. A very soft wood, but stunning in person. I accented the top of the dresser with two new lamps since there’s no ceiling light in the room.
And I used a little porcelain kitchen serving piece to hold my dad’s pocket change and some of his watches (my mother’s extreme clothing collection overtook their walk in closet so my dad uses the one in this bedroom).
I took out the old rocking chair and replaced it with a wicker chair my mom had in her bedroom. The white really brightened up that corner.
Above the chair is two little printables that I simply adore. You can find them here.
When most of the bedroom makeover was complete, I still felt the window area needed a little help. So I took some plain old curtain panels from Walmart and stenciled them with some leftover paint (tutorial here). LOVE this addition to the room!
And my grandmother’s tea set sits right in front of the window.
The chest, bookshelf, and secretary got some new accessories as well.
One of my favorites is the 3D flower art I picked up from Target for $20!
Let’s take a look again at the before and after…
Ah, I’m loving it!
Quick and easy transformation on a budget.
My kind of makeover.
So, do you have a bedroom that’s in need of a quick facelift?

I love the transformation. I have been looking for wall decor like you used over the bed. I have looked at Target with no luck. We’re these sold in a set or separately.

Each one sold separately. In the mirror aisle. Hope that helps!
