Master Closet Shoe Organization + $100 Ace Hardware GIVEAWAY!

So the other day I was walking through Ace Hardware and stumbled across the organization aisle… ya know, where they have all of the closet storage products? And I noticed these little Rubbermaid shoe add ons for their closet systems.

ace hardware shoe organizationNow we just moved into a new home a little over 3 months ago and our new closet is MASSIVE. I’m talking 3 feet bigger than my daughter’s old bedroom.

master closet shelving makeoverBut the shelving is really odd in there. Only one wire shelf all the way around. It’s plenty of room for our clothes, but I had no place to put our shoes. Well… see that box?

master closet shoe storageYeah, it’s our “shoe box”. Literally.

Now we could have redone the closet with really expensive built ins or a full closet system, but I’m thrifty and can’t really see spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on a closet. So now you can see why I was a little giddy to find those shoe add ons at Ace Hardware.

closet shoe organizationI figured the best place to put the new shoe shelving would be just to the right when you walk in the closet. Two shoe shelves come in each box and they fit perfectly side-by-side under the existing shelf.

We purchased (3) 48 inch hanging brackets and used drywall anchors to secure them to the wall.

master closet shoe organizationSeriously took about 10 minutes to hang all 3 brackets. Then you just hook in the shoe add ons. The hardest part of this project was just measuring and making sure everything was level.

The shoe add ons are on an angle and have a little lip at the bottom so your shoes don’t slide off. And each shelf holds about 7 or 8 pairs of shoes (well 6 for my husband and his size 13 feet).

closet shoe organization makeoverOK, now for the good stuff!

One lucky reader is going to win a $100 gift card to Ace Hardware to spend on something you didn’t know they offered like shoe organizers… or whatever else you need!

And stay tuned for more updates to this space! Next we’re going to add a new light fixture and find a piece of furniture to serve as an island to store my jewelry, scarves and my husband’s ties.

  2. sarah says

Oh wow! I could use some organization like that in my closet. We have the closet system that gos with these shoe shelves but ive never seen them! And btw, so jealous of that closet!

  3. Bryn says

I think I’d have to buy some show racks too. I’m using those silly stacking ones and they are not getting the job done!

  4. Kayla says

Love this idea! I need some shoe organization in my master closet and the gift certificate would be the perfect way to do that!! I hope I’m lucky and win (since it’s St. Patrick’s Day and all…) Thanks!

  5. Brandy says

I’m redoing/updating my laundry room utility closet…so organizing items would be appealing to me. Love the shoe racks too!

  6. rayray cartucci says

I would buy paint! This whole house needs some new paint to cover all the crayon drawings and what ever else is on our walls.

  7. Nicole says

I love closet organization systems, and they work wonderfully to optimize space in small closets as well.

  8. Danie says

I would buy paint and organizing stuff. We are moving in a few weeks to a smaller apartment and need some new organizational things (for shoes, books, clothes, etc.). This would be awesome!

My son needs a closet organizer, and I had never thought about Ace, but I think we’ll check there first!

  10. Elizabeth W says

Closet organization is the watchword. We need to revamp our hall closet so,there is someplace for all those shoes and boots!

  11. David says

I have an Ace Hardware near my house that almost rivals a Lowes in size. They have everything Lowes would have, minus the lumber department. I would use the card for lawn and garden supplies, particularly fertilizer.

  12. Katie says

Ace is my go to place for everything! Birthday gifts, home improvement, holiday decor, even a post office!!!

  13. Laura says

We just bought a new house while waiting for a medical retirement from the military to come through…lets just say this house hasn’t hopped of the fashion train since it was built in 1995…. So from 3 states away we are updating on a slim budget and light fixtures and paint are desperately needed!

  14. Kristin @ Little Corbin Hill says

I definitely NEED some of those shoe shelves! I have a shoe box too, lol. Two of them actually =)

  15. says

omigosh, LOVE your closet! Serious case of envy here ;) Ok, I need to do some organizing for Spring as well. First I’d need the Zenith crossbar over the door towel rack for my bathroom towels, along with the Zenith over the toilet shelf because I am sick of having my new toilet paper fall into the toilet lol. For my table or fridge the OXO Good Grips turntable or I might just splurge and put it towards a Moen High Arc Kitchen faucet!

  16. Dawn K. says

We are currently redoing my office, so whatever my hubby needed for the flooring/walls. Probably lots of nails!

  17. Tina W says

I’d love something fun like shoe organizers (or a ginourmous closet!) but I would probably end up buying a new wheelbarrow or another composter.

  18. Amy says

I would buy exterior paint for my house and supplies to build a raised bed garden! Love your closet transformation!
