There’s something about Spring time that makes me want to paint! A fresh, clean start to a room. Transforming a piece of old trashy piece of furniture into a new decorative treasure.

So today I thought I’d share with you my Top 10 Painting Tips & Tricks that have helped me grow as a Do It Yourself girl!

Painting Tips

POPSICLE STICK PAINT DECK from Natty By Design
Take popsicle sticks and paint them the color of every wall in your house. Carry with you on the go to match furniture, curtains, decorations, etc.

MAKE YOUR OWN CHALK PAINT from Liz Marie Blog
1 cup flat paint + 1 tbsp unsanded grout

A can of paint, unsanded grout and a measuring spoon on the counter.

OR YOU CAN TRY THIS VERSION from No Minimalist Here
1 1/2 cups of latex paint + 1/2 cup of water + 1/2 cup Calcium Carbonate

Paint in a can and in a jar plus calcium carbonate powder in a plastic container.

Use a handy rubberband to wipe off your paint brush and to keep the excess paint from dripping down the side of your can.

FREEZE YOUR PAINTBRUSHES from Apartment Therapy
If you need to stop in the middle of a painting project, one great tip if you’re using latex paint is to freeze your paintbrush overnight! Simply put it in a plastic bag and place in your freezer (your refrigerator can work too if you’re coming back to the project the next day!).

TEFLON PAINT TRAY FROM SHUR-LINE from Shelterrific
I never used this paint tray before, but it looks pretty darn cool! Since the tray is coated in Teflon, the dry paint just peels right out. How cool is that!! You can get them for about $10 from Sears.
