We are in the process of cleaning out our basement and coming up with some storage ideas. We’re quickly coming to the realization that we have way too much-unused stuff and a garage sale is seriously in order. I realize that that might not be blogworthy-type material, as we’re basically just shoving a bunch of holiday decorations and miscellaneous home décor items into large plastic storage bins and making a pile of items to donate that we no longer need. Now down the road (ya know, when I find some extra time on my hands), I might want to try one of these cool storage organization ideas (and I think you might want to too)…

Seriously tons of inspiration here.
LET’S GET TO IT…

I just retired from my job of 35 years, and my goal is to get organized. I have used so many of your ideas, and have commented many times. I am also a former JFK graduate and I tell all of my friends to follow you. They also enjoy your blog!

I am thinking the same thing… for a year now! I had a very busy year and I didn’t really have the time to do all the changes at home that I was planning to do! I really wish that I have a well organized home and for this I need to think of better and more storage ideas! Since my family have grown, the stuff we have did grow, too. These storage ideas are so lovely! I really think to try and use some of them at home! Thank you for sharing them!

I love the collection of storage and organization ideas you’ve collected here. My garage needs a makeover, dump things that are no longer needed and reorganize whats left. My biggest problem is my quilt studio, my fabric collection has outgrown it’s storage space and it feels so daunting, I want to get in there and reorganize but I hate the mess it creates in getting things organized. It’s the smallest bedroom in our home and things get cluttered in there very quickly. I guess it’s time to tackle it and then close the door on it if I don’t finish by dinner time. Great post.

Good luck with the organization! I know it can be daunting but once you start and see some progress it will be easier!

I’m going to be the lone voice of dissent here, I think, but Americans (middle class & up) as a whole have WAY too much “stuff”. A few trips to Europe were quite the eye-openers as to how many people in smaller countries live – and all the things they have fewer of, or live without, or just do differently. Then I had personal experiences that were even more life-altering. After working for years making a VERY comfortable living, I became very ill – twice in the span of three years, with different conditions – and lost virtually everything. And I didn’t lose it just once. Less than a year after starting to get back on my feet, my housemate changed the locks on our doors when I was in hospital and stole virtually everything I’d saved or begun replacing.
I now live in about 370 sq ft., and I often think I have way too much stuff now – even though it’s probably 10 percent of what I’ve lived with most of my life. I can’t begrudge others their “things”; but I also can no longer relate to having a whole closet of cleaning products. And I don’t mean to criticize. I just offer these comments for what they’re worth, for those wondering if they can live well with less. You can.

I would love a pantry the size shown so I could do dome organizing. Mine is 18 8nches wide (if that) and maybe that deep.i have some plastic bins that I store tuna packages in, one had all the bag chippies in, and I have b n a few teys that have some cooking things in (like the oils and spices) that I can pull forward to get to in areas of reaching over everything to get to the tall oil container for cooking. Can I also tell you I am a klutz and knock things over bit I do try. I do have a friend who is an organization fiend who tells me she is going to organize that pantry. And I just moved in a month ago.

That is a small pantry, but glad to see you’re at least trying to organize it with bins! 🙂
