I purchased some pretty “glue pad” hair pins from Pick Your Plum awhile back (you can also find them on Amazon) and thought I’d share some quick and easy ideas for using your craft supplies to turn these bland pins into something fun!

I found some colorful ribbon from the $1 bins at Target, little sequined flowers, butterfly buttons, felt flowers and then some rosettes I made awhile back (rosette tutorial at the bottom of the post!). The only other supply I needed was my hot glue gun.

First up is the Felt Flower Hair Pins…

Next we have the Butterfly Button Hair Pins…

I snipped off the back of the button with a pair of scissors so it would be easier to glue.

Here’s the Fabric Rosette Hair Pin…

I used the ribbon from Target to make some Mini Bow Hair Pins…

And of course you gotta have some bling!

Really super quick & easy project!
Plus LOVE that I used items I already had in my craft room.

OK, now for the rosette tutorial:

If you’ve never made a rosette before, it’s SUPER SIMPLE. Just take a 2 x 12 inch piece of fabric and make a small knot at one end (not too tight). Twist the rest of the piece of fabric and start to wrap around the center knot. Make sure you keep the fabric twisted as you wrap!

I used my hot glue gun during this process to keep the rosette tight. Also use a dab of your hot glue to adhere the end of the fabric when your rosette is complete (usually underneath so your edges are clean). TADA! That’s it.
