Here again are a couple of my favorite projects I found this week while flipping through the DIY blog websites. These people have totally inspired me and want me to get out my paint brush (or sewing machine, oven mitt, and anything else crafty)! The first project I absolutely adore is this before and after family room reveal from Addicting 2 Decorating. The transformation will have your jaw on the floor! What Kristi does with the paneled walls is just amazing. And the color scheme makeover… I’m in LOVE. Next up is this desk from Chrissie’s Collections. She uses painted… Read More
So, I’m still off on vacation, but thought I would post some little tidbits this weeks that I’ve had stashed away for a rainy day. Ok, so my great room has been decorated since we first moved into our home in 2006. My parents were nice enough to pay for our great room furniture as a house warming gift. YAHOO! I love everything about this room, except for the huge 53 inch TV in the corner. It’s the first purchase my hubby and I made together about 8 years ago in our first apartment. At the time it was super… Read More
Don’t you just love summer vacations? Right now we’re in the middle of spending 7 lovely days at one of our favorite destinations: sunny Panama City Beach, Florida. We usually head down with my parents and siblings, and it’s my daughter’s first time since she was just a baby. What I adore is watching her soak in sights, sounds and textures for the first time! Remember that sensation of putting your toes in the sand and letting the water run over your feet? You seem to sink deeper into the sand with every wave. LOVE. My daughter thought it was… Read More
I’m in the process of turning my daughter’s playroom into a shared space for my desk and crafts as well. Here are a couple of photos of other craft rooms that I adore and will inspire my space. As soon as I return from vacation in sunny Florida, my focus is going to be revamping this room into my dream haven! You can find the links to all of these photos on my Pinterest page by clicking here.
Here again are a couple of my favorite projects I found this week while flipping through the DIY blog websites. These people have totally inspired me and want me to get out my paint brush (or sewing machine, oven mitt, and anything else crafty)! First up is from Just Sew Easy. Can you believe that she turned a desk into a lemonade stand for the kids? LOVE the use of chalkboard paint, awnings and the adorable bunting banner! Next is this outside dining set from Embracing Change made from an old interior door. This is UH-mazing! I love the subway-style stenciling… Read More
While walking through the aisles of Goodwill with my three year old, she spotted a baby doll cradle that she just had to have. It was very bland (just untreated wood) but since it was only $3 I figured I could get it into tip-top shape with a little bit of paint and fabric. So here’s the before and after… Here’s how the transformation took place: I first painted the entire cradle in Krylon’s watermelon spray paint (only $4) . I knew I would be putting another coat of paint on top of this and distress so just a little… Read More
While at a local grocery store last week, I noticed a curly ribbon wreath out of the corner of my eye. It was extremely cute: a birthday themed decoration with shades of pink, purple, yellow and green. I would have picked it up, but the price tag said $30. Not too shabby, but I thought I could save some cash and make one myself. Plus this way I get to personalize it! So with the upcoming football season right around the corner, I thought a cool take on this project would be a Mizzou Tigers curly ribbon wreath. Pretty cute,… Read More
Yesterday my husband’s family had a 4th of July celebration with tons of food and family fun. During the planning phase, I decided to volunteer to bring the cole slaw. Now, I’ve never made cole slaw before in my life… so why did I speak up? I still have no idea! And of course my husband’s family is the type that makes everything from scratch. You can’t just go to the store and buy a bottle of slaw sauce to throw on some cabbage. Oh dear… where to begin… Then an idea popped into my head. My side of the family leaving… Read More
