Now that 2013 is underway, it’s time to set a list of Home Goals that I hope to accomplish in the next 12 months. Last year I was a bit all over the place with my to-do list, but I’m happy with the results. So, what still needs to be done? Let’s take a look…

home goals

1. GREAT ROOM MAKEOVER
Yeah, I know… This was the first thing on my list from last year. But I have to say that I’ve made some improvements in the room and we’re at least on track to unveil a new Great Room in the near future. I still need to get some new accent chairs that go with my new color scheme and I need some artwork above the staircase. It’s just a huge blank canvas staring back at me.

great room goalsI’d also like to get a new area rug to bring some color into the room. Ooh, and maybe some built-in bookshelves flanking the fireplace? That would definitely be my biggest DIY project to date but I might just be ready for the challenge.

We don’t use our backyard or back patio as much as I’d like. I feel like I’ve been waiting for the perfect outdoor furniture, but something that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. I’d also like to build a corner firepit and add some new landscaping. I guess we’ll see what the budget allows for this year.

I made quite the transformation this past year with a fresh coat of paint, but this room still needs a little tweaking. Maybe a new light fixture? Finally purchase or paint a china cabinet? I’d also LOVE to buy a new dining room table. This one from World Market is on the top of my list.

4. MASTER BATHROOM
In 2012 I revamped my master bedroom, but now it’s time to focus on the master bath. I put up this wallpaper about two years ago and I have mixed feelings on it. Part of me says to work around it; the other part of me says start from scratch and make this your dream bathroom. Guess we shall see…

5. MINOR KITCHEN UPDATES
In 2012 I painted my kitchen cabinets white. Now it’s time for some itty bitty minor changes. First on my list? Wrap the center island in bead board and trim to give it some flair. I’d also like a new kitchen table, preferably something that isn’t black and shows every little fingerprint.

Sell this house. Yeah. None of the items on my list will get crossed off if we sell our home this Spring. We put it on the market about 3 weeks ago and we’re getting some great showings and feedback. I guess I will have to keep you updated on the selling progress!

Lol, I love that this list is pending on a sale of the home! I love all your plans, I want to build bookcases/shelves around my fireplace as well. No matter what happens, I’m sure you’ll have some great stuff to show off this year in whatever home you are in! 🙂

Haha, that’s just how I roll Ange! Let me know if you get started on the bookshelves. Might need some guidance 😉

didn’t you just post that you were putting your house up for sale? so do you still plan to do all this even with it on the market?

Yes! Our house is up for sale right now, but I’m still making some minor changes. If it doesn’t sell within this next month or two, then we’re taking it off them market and going full steam ahead on the changes!
