For some reason I got home from the Snap Conference and just want to try all of the products that I witnessed in action. Yep, I’ve been on a crafting kick for the past couple of days! Today’s feat? Minwax Express Color Stain.
I decided to make a little sign for my craft room, something that could tie in with the DIY craft desk that I built last year.
I gathered my supplies:
- Minwax Express Color Stain in mahogany
- Staining pads
- Wood cutout
- American Crafts Thickers stickers
- American Crafts bunting paper garland
- Twine
Minwax seriously did not pay me to promote this one bit. I promise. But I’m going to say that they could pay me in free Express Color Stains forever and I’d be one happy girl. Seriously, this stuff is awesome.
Just squirt a little bit onto your bare wood and rub it in. Yep, that simple. I’m a complete novice when it comes to staining and I felt like a pro afterwards. Seriously, what was I so scared about?
Once the stain was dry (about 5 minutes, no joke), I added my thickers stickers to the sign.
Then I added the cute little bunting paper garland and strung some twine through little drilled holes in my wood cutout to hang.
Yep, really that easy.
I just love how the natural tones and variations of the wood still show through after I applied the Minwax stain.
And it looks perfect above my craft room desk. The color matches perfectly, whew.
So, are you a pro at staining, or a novice like me?
I promise you, this Minwax Express Color Stain will change your life!

I love this! I have been debating for the last two days on how I want to use these supplies from SNAP! because I was worried I’d do something lame and waste them lol. Thanks so much for the inspiration! I have an unfinished wood frame that’s calling my name now 🙂

It looks great! Where did you find all of the supplies? I looked for it at Michaels tonight with no luck. 🙁

I got all of my supplies from the Snap Conference. I got my wood cutout from here. The stain you should be able to get from Lowes or Home Depot. And the stickers are available at Micheals. Hope that helps!
