I’ve been wanting to make this little craft for some time and finally got around to it after 11 or so inches of snow on Sunday…

Mr. & Mrs. Wood Signs for above our bed.

I was lucky enough to get to try out the new Silhouette SketchPens over the weekend. Have you seen these before? It was my first time working with them and I instantly fell in love.

silhouette cameo sketch pen setI decided to typeset the Mr. & Mrs. myself using the font “a song for jennifer”. This is one of my new favorite fonts since it has a hand-written feel to it, plus I thought it would be perfect for the sketch pens tool since it’s very detailed.

silhouette cameo sketch pens tutorialTo turn your Silhouette from a cutting machine into a sketching machine, all you have to do is replace the cutting tool with a pen. Yep, that easy. I sketched my design right onto normal computer paper.

Then it was time to transfer my design to some cool cutouts I purchased from Pick Your Plum last Fall. Love the shape of these!

wood cut outs and mod podge designsJust a little Mod Podge on the surface of the wood cut out and then placed my sketch art on top. Make sure you press down everywhere firmly to get out any bubbles or creases.

Next flip over the wood cut out and use an exacto knife to trim off the access paper from your design.

Pretty cute if I do say so myself.

So cute! I just tried to use the code, and for some reason it isn’t working. The silhouette website is saying “NEST” isn’t a valid code. I wanted to let you know just in case others are experiencing this problem too. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

OH NO! I just emailed them and they’re supposed to get back to me ASAP. If you need a new code, just let me know!
