this week in school chalkboard sign tutorialMy little ladybug starts Kindergarten next Wednesday. Can you believe it? Feels like summer just started! Well I guess it’s time to get organized for the school year. First up? A place to showcase her schoolwork!

look what i did signI started with some simple supplies:

  • Carved wood board from Michael’s
  • Black chalkboard paint and brush
  • Apple decals
  • Binder clips
  • Hot glue gun
  • White painters marker
  • Chalk

chalkboard school work signFirst thing you want to do is cover the wood board in two coats of chalk paint. Let it cure for 24 hours before the next step.

this week in school chalk board signMy idea behind this is to hang her artwork, write in the dates, and take a photo. Yep, I won’t have to save every single piece of artwork, just the best ones from the year. BUT I’ll still have an archive of everything she did with dates & photos.

Pretty clever, huh?
Yeah, let’s just see if I actually stick to this plan…this week in school chalkboard sign tutorial

I know, I’m so sad! No longer a baby 🙁

This is great. It is so important for the littles to see their artwork proudly displayed. And really, I don’t think that ever changes (as I look around the house at my “DIY artwork” 🙂

Haha, so true Sue! Hopefully she’ll try a little harder at school if she knows I’m going to hang her papers. I bet she wouldn’t like to see F’s on display 😉
