Old Window Shutter Necklace Holder

There’s a wonderful little antique and home decor shop called Willow Lake right up the road from my house. While grazing through their shop last month, I spotted a beautifully distressed green shutter for only $15.

It’s been sitting aside for the past couple of weeks while I’ve been working on my home office/craft room transformation as seen here. I knew I wanted to incorporate this shutter into my design and thought of the perfect solution… a necklace holder for my ever-increasing collection!

Before I had all of my necklaces in a basket in my bathroom and of course it always took me 15 minutes to unravel the intertwined mess of chains. Yes, it was time to find a storage solution!

Then I had the AH HA moment.

I had some little hooks in my toolbox that would work perfectly. I used a small drill bit to make 3 little holes in the top of the shutter. Then I screwed in the little hooks.

Voila! That’s it! A funky little necklace holder that also adds some flair to the room. Lovin’ it!

I think I’ll stick it in the corner of my craft room/home office to add a little height to that side of the room. I still have a lot of tweaking I need to do for this space, but it’s getting there!

Love the character of the shutter and for $15? Dang, girl! You’ll have fun with that piece! Visiting from Tuesday’s Treasures. 🙂

I love this idea. You’re right – it is really hard to store necklaces. I love the table next to it, too. Is that an antique?

No, I wish! It was purchased from Value City Furniture about 6 years ago. Thanks for the lovely comment, too!

That is such a nice idea. I like how the shutter is tall enough to just sit on the floor. Very pretty arrangement.

What a great idea! I’ve bben looking for a big old wooden shutter to use as a backdrop for my antique booth…All the ones I’ve found so far have been more $$$ than I want to spend on something used as decoration only. I love how yours looks!

Looks great! I love this idea. I’m a huge shutter fan but I’m running out of places to put them for wall decor. This is a wonderful use!
