Wow, I finally made some progress on the Guest Bedroom. Yeah, I know… I’ve been promising a makeover for like 2 months now.
Well since I kept changing my mind on this space, I finally decided to put together an inspirational mood board to pick a plan and stick with it.
I’m kind of going for a masculine makeover here. Navy blue, lots of neutrals with grays and tans, plus pops of orange. I’m also thinking about adding some boyishly awesome touches like airplanes or submarines.
And as a reminder, the last time you saw my Guest Bedroom it looked a little something like this right after we moved into our new home and I gave you a quick tour of the place…
Pathetic, right?
Well at least now with the mood board I was ready to begin tackling the guest bedroom makeover. The first step? Paint. I went shopping at The Paint Studio at my local Ace Hardware. The winning color? Chance of Rain by Clark+Kensington.
I like that Clark+Kensington is a paint+primer in one available only at Ace Hardware. Plus they just added a bunch of designer-selected hues that cover the entire color spectrum.
I used this brand of paint for my hearth room makeover, my neighbor’s laundry room and Ellie’s bedroom. I love how silky smooth it goes on the walls, plus it has great coverage.
While the room is still pretty bare, at least I’m making progress.
Baby steps, people.
But at least I’m digging this beautiful gray tone.
Can’t wait to add in the navy & orange.
And I love the look of this Chance of Rain color in different lights.
OK, so the final reveal of the Guest Bedroom is coming on MONDAY!
I have lots to do this weekend including finishing the headboard,
buying some knick knacks, painting a nightstand, etc…. so stay tuned!
And check out The Paint Studio at Ace Hardware. You’ll love the new colors and mood-inspired palettes for both Clark+Kensington and Valspar Paint.
And if you have trouble committing, you have the option to sample either brand for only $4.99.

I love your mood boards. The colors are beautiful together – crisp, clean, but warm too with the pops of orange. Love the whimsy of the bi-planes (my husband is a pilot) and that dresser looks familiar (Ethan Allen?).

Thank you so much Wendie! Not quite sure where the dresser is from. It was my husband’s growing up and is a really solid piece. I just can’t bring myself to paint it!
