I think I might have a small obsession with laundry room organization and makeovers. This is like the 4th one on this blog in the past 4 years: our first home, second home, my neighbor’s, and now this one… my brother’s house.

His family just moved into a brand new home and they wanted to get a couple rooms organized, especially the laundry room. With two young kids, they use this room more often than they’d like. This little niche seemed like the perfect place to add some organizational storage.

Laundry Room Makeover

And here’s what it looks like now!
Hubba hubba, right?

closetmaid laundry roomI actually decided to use a ClosetMaid SuiteSymphony™ 25 inch Starter Kit organizer for this space, something that would normally be used in a reach-in closet. I popped on their website and actually got to design the layout once I input the measurements of my space in their ClosetMaid® Easy-to-Use on-line Design Tool.

closetmaid websiteClosetMaid.com was very helpful in showing several finishes and configurations, plus it created my SuiteSymphony™ shopping list right there!

The entire system took about 3 hours to install, including all 4 drawers. Much faster than I anticipated! And now they have so much additional storage in their laundry room! Loving those adjustable shelves behind the cabinet doors.laundry room organizationI opted for 2 large drawers and 2 smaller drawers towards the bottom. Great place to store clean towels and blankets.

organization laundry roomPlus now they can even store their tools and other miscellaneous items in here. And don’t you love this Natural Gray finish? It looks so dreamy against the new blue color I painted on the walls.

And there’s still a whole other side of the laundry room you guys need to see! We’re building a hamper storage unit with countertop so stay tuned for that tutorial!

But can you believe this ClosetMaid before & after?
Doesn’t even feel like the same space!

I have a craft room that I have a love/hate relationship with. I love to play in there but it’s so unorganized it also stresses me out. This would be a great start in helping me get organized in there.

This would be great for our entryway closet – it’s not just the place we keep all of our coats. It’s really the place we keep all of our extra “stuff” like our cold weather gear (boots, snowpants, hats, gloves), our pre-packed pool and park bags (so I can grab them on the fly) and the “exit zone” for all of the things on the way out of the house (Goodwill and pet shelter donations, items to be returned that were borrowed, etc.). There is currently one long rod across the top under a very high shelf with a lot of wasted space underneath the hanging coats. The kids would probably like to have their own bins to store their stuff in and I know my hubby would appreciate a better system than the brown grocery store bags that line the bottom floor :). It works, but it sure ain’t pretty!!!!

I need organization everywhere but mostly in my laundry room with a family of 5. I am the sole provider so my income doesn’t allow for much extras. This is awesome and what I am looking for to start and keep and add to later.

  22. tammigirl says

I guess ‘everywhere’ is too vague, right?

I have two closets in the upstairs hall. One is fairly large and it could sure use something like this to make it make sense.

The real question is, where wouldn’t I want more organization?!?

  44. Linda N says

    at

Sadly enough I can’t think of a room that couldn’t benefit from a bit more organization, but my craft/scrap-booking/office is most in need. Lots of things that need to be sorted and stored properly but not a lot of furniture pieces to do it with. Love your idea of using closet organization pieces in other places in the house. Fantastic!

  45. Pat says

What a beautiful item! I need help just about everywhere, but this beautiful piece would be really helpful in the bedroom! It is gorgeous! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  46. Julie Wood says

My Bathroom needs a towel shelf like this one because my other one broke, and I have my towels in plastic bins right now, and it looks awful! I would organize all towels, and cleaning supplies and have them in one location to find and this Big shelf would make my bathroom look so much better!

My laundry room needs so much help. It is our entrance to the house from the garage so everything gets dropped there.

  57. Rachel Collins says

I need more space and organization in my bathroom and laundry room. I have 3 kids and there is clutter from all the laundry and clutter from everyday life everywhere. This would help so much! This would be great for the laundry room or the bathroom. We have lots of towels and nowhere to put them! Thanks so much for the chance!

  62. Hanifa says

Need more organization in kitchen!!! I cook with way too many spices and prepare home-cooked meals everyday for my family.

  63. Carol B says

    at

My bedroom is in serious need of help! I have an older house & there’s very, very little closet space anywhere. I use a garment rack right now in the bedroom to hang clothes & it’s very unsteady & has collapsed on me more than once! This would be perfect. I could also use the metal rods & attach them to the wall the same way you’re doing. What a great way to solve a real problem.

  64. Lisa Jeffrey says

    at

    My closet is a mess!

  65. Lan Nguyen says

I need some organizing help in the mud room / laundry room !!

  66. Katy M says

    at

Our laundry room or bathroom always seem to be unorganized, mostly because I’ve never taken the time to find an organizational system that works in those areas so it just becomes clutter filed.

  67. Emily says

    at

I would like to have more organization in my guest room.
